Clarivance™ is a next-generation acneingredient – a unique fermentation-derived monoterpenoid produced from upcycled citrus oil. It combines antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, sebum-regulating, andbarrier-strengthening actions in a single, well-tolerated molecule.
Unlike conventional acne actives such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or azelaic acid, which can irritateor dry the skin, Clarivance™ is clinically proven at just 1.25% concentration – 8× lower than azelaic acid (10%). In a 28-day study, Clarivance delivered -15.9% pore area reduction and -15.1% pore number reduction, out performing azelaic acid by 2.5× and 6× respectively.
Clarivance™ is produced via fermentation of upcycled citrus oil, a by-product rich in R-(+)-limonene from the juice industry.
Each year, 60–70 million tons of citrus peel waste are produced globally. Fermentation transforms this renewable feedstock into a high-purity monoterpenoid active, combining efficacy with minimal environmental footprint. By replacing petrochemical synthesis, Clarivance™ enables a traceable, 100% bio-based production process, meeting clean label requirements for premium cosmetic brands.
Clarivance™ significantly reduced both pore area up to 44% and pore number by up to 41% after 28 days.
Compared to placebo, Clarivance™ demonstrates a clear and statistically significant improvement in pore refinement – a key visible marker of skin quality.
Porphyrins are produced by acne-causing bacteria – higher levels indicate greater bacterial C. acnes activity. Porphyrins are therefore considered a biological marker of acne severity. Clarivance™ at 1.25% reduced porphyrin area number, while placebo saw increases in both.
This directional trend supports Clarivance™’s antibacterial mechanism of action and complements the significant results seen in acne lesion reduction, sebum control, and pore refinement.
